It’ll be 2 years this month since my ridiculously beautiful service dog, Shadow, slipped her mortal coil and chased the proverbial kibble filled tennis ball into the ether, and into her new role as my goofy spiritual shadow (yes, I couldn’t resist the play on words).

Why did it take me so long to spread her ashes, you may be asking yourself. Well, there’s no easy answer other than to say, I wasn’t in a hurry. The moment presented itself when it did and it was absolutely right.

Not a day goes by when I don’t think of her and smile.

  • I’m a friend of Michaela’s and have heard many stories about you and your precious Shadow. What a wonderful place you chose for her. I have three dogs so I know the love and legacy that they leave. I hope to meet you one of these days!

  • That was beautiful and I can hear her barking from the heavens! You did her right. And sharing it with us was a complete gift! Thank you! Love you much!

  • Hi Tony,

Enjoyed your video on Shadow. I laughed at the Lebowski clip. I know what a great friend and service dog she was to you and how you and your whole family loved her. Michaela always shared pictures and stories about you and Shadow and her kids. My prayers are with you, Tony. God bless you.

    Love,

Lisa Allan (Michaela’s friend from Corona) 🙂

  • Loved the video T! If anyone understands waiting to spread ashes it’s me. My mother passed four years ago and I still have yet to do it. She requested that her ashes be scattered in the SF Bay and the right time just hasn’t presented itself. You can’t put a timeline on things so sacred and meaningful. You did right by the fur pig!

    Much Love
    Mel
